Results:

In 2006 a pen of 3 Laikipia White Dorper lambs won the Hook section of the Hoof and Hook competition for the over 50kg class at the Cooma Show. They were also Reserve Champions for all classes in both the Hoof and the Hook sections.

In 2008 Laikipia won the 45-50 kg class on the Hook at the Cooma Show.

2007 was the first year that rams were taken to the Dubbo National Sale and the scanning results were very encouraging and the EMD measurments were amongst the highest in the sale.

In 2009 most of the wether portion of the lambs were sold over the hook and averaged $116-$120.

The remainder of the mob topped the Cooma Sale in July for an average of $100.

2010 saw us with 2 rams at the Dubbo national sales that averaged $2750! The first one at 95 kgs with an EMD of 48mm and fat score of 6mm. The second was a 2 toothed twin ram of 87 kgs, EMD 43mm and fat score of 5mm.

The second on-property sale was held on 12th February 2011.  38 Rams and 180 ewes were offered and there were a mixture of Dorpers and White Dorpers available. The sale was well attended with over 30 registered buyers. There was a total clearance of rams and ewes with the rams averaging $548 to a top of $1100 and the ewes averaging $248 to a top of $330. There were some bulk buyers with rams going to Bourke, Canberra, Yass, Captains Flat and the South Coast as well as the local area.Ewes went to Braidwood, Gunderoo, Canberra, Sutton as well as to the local area.

There continues to be great interest in the Dorpers and we have had several calls since the sale from people wanting stock.

Two pens of fat lambs will be entered into the Cooma Show Hoof & Hook competition in March and 4 rams and possibly some ewes will be taken to the National Sale in Dubbo.

We have had a great season with plenty of rain which will set us up nicely for winter. Lamb prices continue to be good so we are hopeful of a good year ahead.
